Perennial plant up to 100 cm tall. The leaves are large, double or almost tridzhy pinnate, with relatively short petioles, covered with brownish scales. Sori falcate, rarely oval, close together, on the edge of the bract sori incised. Sporonosit in July and August.
It is widely distributed in the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere, including almost the entire territory of Russia, with the exception of the steppe regions.
It is common in the rain forests of various types, sometimes forming thickets in clearings. Is distributed extensively, spores germinate well in the wet soil devoid of vegetation along the trails, on rotten stumps, etc.
Considered to be toxic to horses and cattle. Used in folk medicine as an anthelmintic.
