Perennial 30-50 (80) cm tall, with numerous long ground creeping shoots, leaves, significantly decreases towards the top. Stem usually with scattered simple hairs up to 2.5 mm in length and a few stellate or without stellate hairs. Basal leaves glaucous, lanceolate, acute, sometimes spatulate, stem — usually including 1-3, concentrated in the lower half of the stem, with all the leaves, as well as the stem, covered with sparse long simple hairs sticking out, often with a black base. Baskets are usually numerous, small, 5-7 mm in length, collected in corymbose-paniculate inflorescence. Wrapper leaves are sharp, be-lookaymlennye, with occasional long hairs and isolated glandular and stellate hairs. Flowers in June, the seeds begin to ripen in July.
Central European species spread in Russia in the central regions of the European part. Common view in all regions of Central Russia.
Grows in meadows, mainly riverine, forest edges, clearings, in sparse forests.
Polymorphic species, which is a complex set of "minor species", with more than two dozen. Group of species with a stem without stellate hairs, with few or stellate hairs sometimes singled out as a special type of assembly-hawkweed glaucous.
