One-, two-, rarely perennial herb with thin root and leafy glaucous (sometimes purple) stem height of 15-60 cm, rounded or somewhat faceted. Lower leaves oblong-spatulate, up to 15 cm, gradually narrowed into petiole, with ushkovatym amplexicaul base, upper — ovate, broadly covering the stem, all blunt or notched, gray-green, sometimes bluish, often with white, naked, hard, with prominent tubercles. Inflorescence — the thick leafy tendrils; bracts oblong-ovate, cordate at the base. Calyx almost to base into five narrowly elliptic obtuse lobes, ciliate on the edge of the thin bristles. Corolla yellow, at the base with five purple spots, tubular, 10-14 mm long, almost twice as long as calyx, almost half is cut on-lanceolate straight sharp teeth, more or less convergent. The fruits are gray with a black spot (sometimes almost black), matte shiny. Blooms in May sentyabre.Preimuschestvenno Mediterranean plant. It grows in rocky areas of the steppes, on limestone outcrops, thickets, along roadsides.
