Perennial with zimnezelenymi leathery leaves, thin branched underground rhizome bearing adventitious roots at the nodes and developmental stalks. Leaves collected in the rosette; plates rounded or rounded-oval, leathery, glossy, ploskogorodchatye, at the upper end of the town there is a small papillary clove, which is the end of rib;, petiole longer than the plate. Petioles and peduncles almost always with a reddish tint. Flowering arrows 10-35 cm tall, with 6-10 flowers, in the middle of the left or slightly below, there is one sharp scaly leaves. Calyx lobes triangular, reddish. Corolla white or pink at the base, petals concave, almost globular folded. Column pestle slightly bent down, some output from the corolla. The fruit — capsule 4-5 mm long and 6.5-8 mm wide. Blooms in June-July, fruiting in July-August. Common in the northern half of Europe and the Caucasus. In Russia grows in the northern half of the European part, in Caucasia and Siberia. Found in many regions of Central Russia, but mainly in the non-chernozem zone.
Usually grows in mossy pine and birch forests. Prefers well-aerated soil average wealth. Propagated by seeds and vegetatively. The most rare species in Central Russia from grushankovyh.
