Fires in southeast Tasmania were caused unprecedented heat: on Friday the temperature reached the mark of 41.8 degrees Celsius — an absolute record since 1883, when Australia began keeping weather observations. The flames blocked the only road to the coastal town of Hobart, where the items were organized assistance and temporary shelter for the victims. About a thousand residents of communities where the element has destroyed up to 40% of homes have been evacuated by the police on the ferry across the sea. Official information on casualties were reported. However, a police spokesman said that one of the fire brigade, "saw a man trying to put out the house," but could not come to his aid, as their car was surrounded by flames and move on was "very unsafe."
