The easiest way to make a knife is from a tablespoon made of stainless steel. Aluminum spoon is not suitable for obvious reasons – aluminum is soft and unreliable. The spoon knife from the spoon is made as follows: the spoon is placed on a wooden plank and straightened with a hammer (or stone, if there is no hammer). There is no need to align it to a perfectly straight state. Then you need to circle the contour of the spoon on paper or other available writing material. When the contour is ready, it is cut, folded in half, and the contour of the future blade begins to form. Then, along the contour of the desired blade, a shape is cut, applied to the spoon, and circled. A hacksaw, jigsaw or scissors for metal cut out the outlined contour on a spoon. The edges are sharpened with a file to the level of a slight slope. Further, indented several centimeters from the end of the spoon, you need to bend its handle with pliers. Further, the steel is heated red hot and cooled several times to give strength to the metal. A knife from a fork will be easier than a spoon, but less reliable.
Another way to manufacture a knife knife is from a saw cut made of carbon steel. First you need to clean its surface from rust. This can be done either with the help of chemicals (hydrochloric acid, special cleaning products), or by polishing. Next is the preparation on paper or cardboard, as was done in the above method in order to draw the contour of the future knife. The paper blank is cut along the desired contour and transferred to the metal surface from two sides, ensuring their symmetry. The contour is cut off too much by burning or using a grinder. In the field, you can make frequent holes along the contour, then break off the excess part. If possible, the edges are machined with a grinder or a drill. The handle can be wrapped with a thread, a braid, or a string as described above.
If there is no metal at hand to make a knife, you can use a solid tree with a dense structure, as long as the material is at least 5 mm thick. Similarly, as mentioned earlier, a blank is created, transferred to the surface of the tree, cut with a hacksaw or saw. The edges of the blade must be sharp and polished. For self-defense in the wild, such a knife is fine.
A regular knife can be made from everything that is on hand made from durable metal: handsaws, files, wrenches, etc. The handle is easy to make from wood, leather, rope, any fabric.
