Drain water. Methods of water purification in natural conditions

For a long time being in the forest, you cannot do without liquid and food that supports the body. Extreme conditions force a person to rush to search not just for drinking water, but for any liquid, especially in the summer. And sometimes, during a prepared hike, it suddenly turns out that the water taken with them is too small. There are many ways to extract water in the wild, but it is not always suitable for drinking, and sometimes even dangerous by admixtures of substances contained in it. How many ways of water purification in nature exist? This can be found in the information below.

How to clean the water in the forest

There are several sources of pure water that nature provides us with, and which needs minimal filtering:

  • Dew
  • Rainwater
  • Condensation water
  • Water from snow and melted ice.

The remaining fluid produced in the wild is required to be filtered and disinfected. Filtration must be carried out in order to, firstly, to clean the liquid from impurities of sand, earth, and other suspended matter mechanically. Secondly, it must be cleaned of heavy metals and salts. To purify water from bacteria means to disinfect it.

Each of the goals of cleaning has its own ways. These methods are three stages of complex cleaning: liquid settling, cleaning and disinfection. The second stage helps to get rid of the remaining particles of sand and other impurities, after the first. If you skip the first stage, large particles of dirt will prevent further filtration. In addition to these, there is also a method of purifying liquid from radioactive substances, as well as desalination, i.e. filtration of water from excess minerals, which makes it suitable for drinking.

How to clean water from pollution?

An elementary way to purify water from dirt is to fold the bandage or gauze into several layers, then let the liquid flow through it. Then she should stand for a little, so that the remaining particles of sand have settled, and strain again until it becomes lighter. If you have tablets of activated carbon with you, you can pass water through gauze with coal poured over it during the second filtering. If there is no activated carbon, it is easy to replace coal from a fire. Then you need to boil the water, and it is ready for use. If not gauze but cloth is used for filtration, it should not be painted so as not to convey the color to water.

The second way: at some distance from the natural reservoir, it is necessary to dig a small hole, in which, after a short period of time, water flowing through the ground, and, therefore, filtered, will begin to collect. After that, you need to clean it again through gauze.

Another way to purify water in the forest is the simplest: you need to put water to settle in a container for 10-12 hours.

A multilevel dirt filter can be built if you make a tripod of three branches, stretch fabric over them. On the tripod, you need to place various materials: sand, grass, coal, earth, pass liquid through them. Water should be poured in small portions and in front of an improvised filter. If it is too dirty, sand needs to be replaced more often to effectively clean it.

Distillation is a complex but effective process, the basis of which is the condensation process on a cooled surface. The essence of distillation: a container of water is placed on the fire, one end of the tube is lowered there, its other end is in another vessel, which is closed and is in a cold liquid. When water boils, pure condensation will occur in the cooled tank. Thus, it is possible to obtain pure water that does not need to be re-filtered.

For desalination, you can use two methods: distillation and freezing. The first method described above, and the second is to freeze the water, then its melting. At the same time, extra mineral salts will come out of it.

How to clean water from heavy metals?

How to clean water from heavy metals
Heavy metals, minerals and salts can do more harm to the body than earth or sand. One of the ways to filter from these impurities is to dissolve 1 tablespoon in two liters of water, wait about 20 minutes. All heavy impurities will settle to the bottom, but the water will be suitable for cooking rather than drinking because of the salty taste.

If during a hike with a banana, you can clean the water with its peel. To do this, you need to chop it finely, and use it similarly to a carbon filter on gauze.

Liquid disinfection

It is known that silver ions kill bacteria. This method can be used in the campaign, if you lower for 2 hours in a container of water silver jewelry. There are several more ways to disinfect liquids:

  • Fill a plastic bag with water and suspend it under direct sunlight. Ultraviolet kills bacteria.
  • It will take several leaves of mountain ash, the substances contained within them have a bactericidal effect. Leaves need to insist 2-3 hours in two liters of water. 10-20 pieces of leaves will be enough. This method is also effective with the use of young birch bark of beech, birch, willow, oak, willow bark: you need to take 100-150 grams of bark per 10 liters of water, infuse for about 6 hours, or boil for half an hour. Fir, pine and juniper branches are also suitable for this method.
  • An effective means of disinfecting water are tablets of hydroperit, perhydrol or pantocide, if they are with them. 4-5 pieces need to dilute to 10 liters of water, insist 20-40 minutes, then boil. After that, a precipitate will fall out, by removing which, you can safely drink clean water.
  • The use of medicinal plants – antiseptics: chamomile, celandine, St. John's wort. They infuse for about half an hour, then the water is boiled.
  • Potassium permanganate: it is enough to take several crystals of this substance based on one liter of water, stir until a slightly pink liquid is obtained. A greater amount of substance can harm the intestines.
  • Iodine or iodine tablets: three or four drops per liter of water is enough. Practice shows that a manganese solution is more effective than this method.
  • Any person who has prepared for the trip, and not accidentally found himself in extreme conditions, will take with him an industrial water filter that is used to filter water at home. There are also special pocket filters designed for use in the field.
  • Water can acquire bactericidal properties after placing silicon or shungite. To do this, put silicon in any container with water at the rate of 1-3 grams of stone per 1-5 liters of water (raw or boiled). The container is placed in a cool place, devoid of direct sunlight, and after 24 hours the water acquires beneficial properties, you can not only drink it, but also treat wounds.

The most basic method of disinfection is boiling. For reliability, this process should last at least 20 minutes.

The most effective method is complex filtering using various methods: mechanical and chemical, in stages.
