The main share of tourist activity is deserved in the summer period. Warm weather is a wonderful occasion to spend time outdoors. But it is worth remembering that the active sun is sometimes very insidious, it can easily provoke a painful fainting state. Signs of sun and heat stroke

Heat stroke is an unhealthy condition of the body, which occurs due to its overheating. As soon as, under the influence of external factors, the body temperature begins to reach 37 degrees and higher, then the process of vital activity of the body begins to be disturbed, which affects the general condition of the person.

Sunstroke is not a separate phenomenon, but a subspecies of thermal overheating. The main reason for its occurrence is a long stay in direct sunlight. Many people know this state when you are outside for a couple of hours at a temperature of 35 degrees and above and you already begin to feel lethargy, a feeling of drowsiness, pain slowly begins to spread in your head, and sweating becomes more pronounced.

The main symptoms of heat and sunstrokeThe main symptoms of the body during heat stroke depend on the degree of overheating:

  • First degree A rather intense headache, signs of nausea, and palpitations that become more frequent;
  • Second degree The condition is complemented by vomiting, impaired coordination, nasal bleeding. Perhaps a state of fainting;
  • Third degree Dramatically increases the pulse, the heart rhythm becomes very frequent. Seizures may occur, as well as hallucinations and delusions.

Signs of sunstroke are similar, but can flow at a faster rate. They are also characterized by redness of the integuments, tinnitus, tearing, and a sharp rush of blood to the head. It is very important when detecting the first signs in a person, to give him first aid in heat and sunstroke.

Absolutely no one is immune from this phenomenon, even the most healthy person, who is in very high temperatures for a long time or the scorching sun, sooner or later will not feel well. But there is a special risk group, which includes:

  • People with a vulnerable system of thermoregulation: the elderly, children;
  • Persons with impaired metabolism, as well as having diseases of the cardiovascular and autonomic system;
  • Persons with large body mass and endocrine disorders;
  • Alcohol abusers.

And, of course, a large proportion of cases of heat stroke occur in persons working in high temperature conditions, for example, in production workshops, boilers, and stoves.

First aid to the victim

With heat stroke, the victim must be moved to a cool place.The main symptoms of the body during heat stroke depend on the degree of overheating:

First aid to the victim

It is necessary to call an ambulance with a heatstroke from a person nearby, as soon as possible. But it must be assumed that the ambulance will arrive on average not earlier, in 10 or even 30 minutes. During this time, the victim may feel worsening or even faint.

It is important to start providing first aid for sun or heat stroke before the doctors arrive.
The procedure should be as follows:

  • The victim is transferred from a zone of elevated temperature to a cool place: a well-ventilated room or an open area with a large shadow zone;
  • He is released from the clothing and its parts: unbutton the collar or all the buttons, loosen the belt, take off their shoes;
  • Provide fresh air by fanning the victim with the help of available tools. Well, if you have a fan at hand;
  • The victim is offered to drink plenty of cool water. It can also be used to splash body parts;
  • If possible, it is better to take the patient to a cool shower or cover him with a wet sheet;
  • Cold compresses are placed in the following zones: forehead, elbow and knee bends, armpits, heart area:
  • On sunburned areas of skin, help is provided in the form of cold compresses or special preparations. Most often they are produced in the form of foam.

Depending on the condition of the patient, additional measures of medical first aid may be required:

  • Stimulation of blood circulation. For this, the limbs are ground with the help of alcohol or vodka, and an improvised cushion is placed under the victim’s feet so that they are above the head;
  • When fainting patient to the nose bring ammonia;
  • In case of loss of consciousness or a badly felt pulse, it is necessary to have resuscitation actions, namely, a closed heart massage and artificial respiration.

Further treatment

If first aid in case of sunburn or heatstroke has given its results and the condition of the victim has improved, you should not let the situation take its course. The patient’s well-being should be controlled, as the full recovery of the body may require additional therapeutic measures.

Standardly, the victim of overheating is given to drink a large amount of liquid, it can be water or tea. At preservation of a sluggish state and the general weakness of an organism, freshly prepared decoction from a blue hypericum will be useful. To do this, 2 teaspoons of dry chopped herbs pour a glass of boiling water and infuse for at least 10 minutes. Broth take a third cup 3 times a day.

If a person who has a disruption in the work of the cardiovascular system has been subjected to heat stroke, then he will definitely need to consult a doctor. Perhaps he will be prescribed such medications as Validol or Valocordin.

If the victim feels well after the care and his health is not threatened, then additional treatment is not required.

Prevention of thermal and sun shock

Compliance with the drinking regime, as one of the measures to prevent heat strokeIn order not to face this dangerous phenomenon, it is necessary to follow a few simple rules. These include:

  • When working in an elevated temperature zone, observe safety precautions and wear appropriate equipment;
  • On particularly hot days, try to limit the time spent on the street, especially in the period from 12.00 to 16.00;
  • In direct sunlight, be sure to wear a hat in the form of a hat or cap;
  • Clothing should also be lightweight, loose fit and made from natural breathable materials;
  • At this time, is to reduce physical activity. If there is a need to play sports, oh, it is better to do it in indoor areas or to postpone training in the evening;
  • It is very important to observe drinking mode. The body should not be dehydrated. Not all drinks are suitable for this purpose, it is best to give preference to ordinary drinking water. Alcohol should be excluded altogether. Juices, teas, fermented milk products should be taken in moderation;
  • The diet should also be reviewed. Fatty heavy food in large quantities can aggravate the situation. It is better to eat small meals and make frequent snacks with fruits and vegetables.

If you feel even the most insignificant first signs of heat stroke, you must immediately change the location, for example, go into a room with air conditioning. On particularly hot days, those who work in open space should be given more breaks.

Parents should also take into account that the system of thermoregulation in children is not as perfect as in adults, so they are at risk. This is also due to their increased physical activity. Therefore, it is very important to observe the time the child is on the street and his drinking regimen.

As you can see, first aid for sun or heat stroke is not at all difficult, but its knowledge can save a person from possible complications or even cardiac arrest.
