At low air temperatures or with poor heating of the plate, very small flames on the edges of the catalyst are still present, but this does not affect its operation in any way, enough heat is generated.
What I liked about the Orgaz BSB-600 gas catalytic heater.
First of all, the cheapness and compactness of its design. It does not take up much space and makes it easy to move. Easy to use, does not emit smoke and soot. It copes well with heating a closed-gentent-pavilion measuring 3x3x2 meters, which is periodically installed during outdoor trips, and drying wet shoes. So far it has been tested only at air temperatures from about 0 to minus 5 degrees.
How the Orgaz BSB-600 heater will behave at lower temperatures, further operation will show. Gas consumption, under the indicated conditions, is quite acceptable, measurements showed something around 150-170 grams per hour at not very high power.
What did not like in the gas catalytic heater Orgaz BSB-600.
I did not like some kind of slurred work of his ceramic emitter plate. Its surface is not completely and evenly heated; this is clearly seen in the photo below. Perhaps with a completely and evenly heated heating element, the heat transfer of the heater would be higher.
The seller of the goods, after contacting him on this issue, replied that this was not a malfunction and that the gas supply was insufficient due to the strong cooling of the gas cylinder. We will take a word and try next time to warm the cylinder very well.
