This mainly applies to short-barreled weapons, that is, pistols. Hidden wearing subcompact, compact and mid-sized PP – this is a special topic.
Hidden long wearing Pistol – a matter of three factors. Let’s just say, if we distribute in order of importance, I would distribute something like this:
- Clothing (the correct selection of this – the main component of success)
- Skill (ability to carry a weapon, you can slightly compensate for properly chosen clothes)
- Equipment (the lack of a special holster in most cases can be compensated by the selection of clothes)
Yes, of course, the size of the weapon plays a role. For example, covertly wear PM is much easier than the same 1911, or, God forbid, something more difficult. But the choice of weapons is always on the person’s conscience, so if he wants (when it comes to situations, we don’t take – “if the homeland orders, then …”), unnoticed, carry with him HK MK-23, then he must understand that it will not be easy. However, everyone is free to create problems for himself in life.
Again, you need to consider goals and objectives. such wearing. If the task is to move with a weapon unnoticed by others, not counting on its sudden use (for self-defense or, on the contrary, attack), then this is one thing. If it is about the fact that the weapon was not only hidden from sight surrounding, but always was in a suitable position for shooting, it is different.
To begin with, we will decide how weapons are worn in everyday life. The most common way – on the belt. We will not consider any exotic things, such as wearing on the ankle, on the forearm, etc. As well as wearing a shoulder holster. As for me, there is no more stupid way, but I didn’t train in such wear and with good, equipped with the possibility of precise and tight fit, I didn’t have this type of holsters. Therefore, maybe I’m wrong. If someone has this experience and it is positive, then it is a minus for me.
Clothing for hidden wearing
The basis of success in hidden wearing – properly selected clothing. It is she who hides weapons from the eyes. It is clear that the more baggy it is the better. Not for nothing one of the ways concealment of wearable weapons in hot regions, this is a t-shirt to the body, and on top of it – a loose shirt a size or two more.
Naturally, the properties of the figure of the owner play an important role. For example, people with excess fat who strives to accumulate above the belt, of course, may carry a weapon in a holster fixed between the pants and the body, but it is unlikely to do this for a long time without experiencing inconvenience. In the meantime, thin and athletic people can do it completely freely, content with a T-shirt cover. In this case, a t-shirt is still better to take on a couple of sizes larger.
In cold countries and regions with a cool climate, on the one hand, everything is simpler – the weapon is easily hidden under jackets, baggy sweaters and other warm clothing. However, in their case, the weapon carrier is faced with the problem of quick retrieval. Therefore, they also have to go for some tricks. Such as jackets with side zippers, and not only with a bottom-up opening, but also with double zippers so that you can unzip the top-down zipper so as not to waste time picking up clothes. Similarly, with sweaters, they are always rather short and with a wide enough elastic on the belt to make it easier to pull them up when removing them.
We must understand that a lot depends on the clothes. And, first of all, when it is selected for concealed carrying weapons, you still need to focus on its convenience for you personally. In this case, you need to pay attention to the little things. So, for example, free-cut shirts, designed for wearing a shirt, are very often with cuts on the sides. Which can unmask the weapon if the movement is careless, in case it is not fixed between the clothes and the body. In the same way as when picking up a jacket for the winter, try to avoid those models that have internal patch pockets on the floor. Few things in life are sadder than when pulling a weapon to hook on a hammer or bolt to a thin, but durable fabric.
The same goes for pants. They have to take on the size or slightly more. It is better if the fabric is elastic (or the pants will have a special elastic belt). Better with a wide belt, and loops that can accommodate a wide belt (better focus on the army 50 mm. Belt models).
Always look at the location of the yarns, depending on how you wear the holster. For 2-3-4-5 hours, at an angle (under what), or not.
By the way, for this reason, many who carry weapons all the time and do not want to shine with them prefer so-called “tactical trousers” precisely because of the correct positioning of the slips and elastic belt.
As for the belts, then there is something difficult to recommend. Choose a model that is wide enough, not quite stretching, but not oak. If you plan to carry a weapon in a holster between a belt and trousers, then choose models with a non-slip (rubberized) back. But focus on your convenience and on the style of clothes that you wear (or which the situation requires).
The first moment in the skill secretive weapon, it is the ability and understanding of how to conveniently arrange weapons on yourself. Everything is simple. When you are armed, you should be able to do everything that you do with the naked (jump, crouch, bend down), and do it just as easily and naturally as if you were without a weapon. That is, if you cannot sit down, turn around, bend down (and be in this state for at least a couple of minutes), bend down sharply or fall quickly so that the weapon does not interfere with you and does not cause discomfort, then the weapon is incorrectly located. When choosing a place to wear, always be guided first by the convenience when moving. And only then on the convenience of extraction (it can always be trained and developed). Optimally, of course, when the location of the gun does not require special training to extract it.
The second point concerning hidden wear skill, it is the development of the motor skills of a person who does not have a weapon. One way or another, a person who has a weapon with him behaves somewhat differently than an unarmed person. If you have a keen eye, you can see how a person who has a holster on his belt, either keeps his hand slightly away from it, or (if he walks with a shaking hand) while moving his hand past the weapon, makes an involuntary, hardly noticeable movement “in a circle “. Just like a man who is not sure that he is reliable enough hid your weapon under the clothes (and this is 50% of newbies, because the other 50% are sure that they did everything correctly and are fired at every step), there is a little bit of “wooden” motorics of the body. Deliberately holding the posture, trying to turn not the body, and hips or legs. Straightens clothes. And with the wrong fit of the holster and belt, quite often, as if “by accident”, tries to check whether it is in place?
It is clear that this is not about “how to determine whether a person has a hidden weapon with him,” so I simply list those parasitic actions that are common to most people who simply carry a weapon with them and do not think about how imperceptibly (and indefinable for a specialist) they wear it.
The first thing to learn if you want carry weapons unnoticed:
Move as if unarmed.
Look at how you move without a weapon. Look a lot and carefully. A person’s gait varies greatly depending on the length of the barrel (a pistol, and not what you think you are). How the holster is fastened (body-clothing, belt-pants, just on a belt), the gait also changes. That is, first, long and carefully look at how you move without a weapon. Then you hang a gun and pouches on your belt, and again go and watch how you move. Then shoot and go again. Then dress and walk again. It is very good if you have your attentive person who can look at both stages and then give you a comparison with the specification of details (by the way, this is how training takes place hidden wearing on a professional basis).
It makes no sense to dwell on the extraction and management. It is clear that you need to train in the extraction, reloading, and removal of weapons, with each set of “holster – clothes” separately. And it should be done regularly until the skill becomes natural and automatic, and then regularly renew and consolidate it. Unless you shoot daily.
Well, again. In words it is ridiculous and useless to describe it, so we will skip some things.
Equipment for concealed carrying weapons
Equipment I put on the last place in this top three for one reason only. Even not the most comfortable holster and not the biggest wearing experience can be disguised with clothing. Not 100% but you can.
Given what is now the range of tools concealed carrying weapons, make a detailed review is impossible and meaningless. The main thing is to understand exactly how you will carry weapons. On a belt? Between a belt and trousers? Between the pants and the body? It is especially important to choose the right holster in the case of wearing the latter method. The part that will fit the body should be trimmed with a moisture wiping cloth. For it is very sad when at the end of a hot day (and if you also need to move a lot) you will have a moist mechanical burn on your side. And uncomfortable, and painful, and unmasking … And in the same place you will not be able to carry a weapon for a long time.
With regard to the parameters of the choice of holster, they are not so much. First, it must be a holster for a specific type of gun. Any universal krenovin from a cordura. Wear a glock? Take molded under the Glock. The material is not so principled. Leather or fashionable now kaydeks, there will not be much difference. True, we must bear in mind that the skin will still absorb moisture and rub the skin, and the kaydex will rub only if it has any texture.
Secondly – the holster should be as compact as possible. Compactness implies that it should be as flat as possible so as not to stand out on the belt (which is why the main recommended ways of wearing: between a belt and trousers, or between pants and a body) and not strongly press on the body. With a long holster, each is determined by itself, but it is better if it ends immediately behind the muzzle cut, although it may be shorter. A much more important parameter is its width. The holster should sit tight on a belt or a belt. That is, if we are talking about a belt mount, then be sure to use two loops, well, if it is also with an intermediate, third, loops or clip. Holster should not hang out. That is why I personally am very suspicious of the new trend of “super compact” holsters. The fact that they are very small is, of course, good, the question is how tightly they hold the gun itself and how wide the lock is used on them. But here, again, I didn’t have experience with such options, and my suspicion is solely due to the fact that they don’t cause my trust.
The same (width and number of clips / locks) is also important for those holsters that are worn between the clothes and the body. The most important thing – all the same, the holster should not hang out and crawl. In this case, the neglect of this rule will lead to unpleasant physical consequences in the form of rubbing, and even mechanical burns.
