Do not have the habit of drinking on trains with unfamiliar compartment neighbors, and if you drink, only your own alcohol from your dishes, and do not get distracted from that process by extraneous matters, so that you do not accidentally add something there. At the same time, it is better to hide money and documents in the most bulky and heavy bags and suitcases, and not, as passengers often do, in compact handbags and briefcases, which, having opened the shelf for a moment, are much easier to remove.

It is best to store money and documents on the body in handbags specially made for this purpose, fastened with secret pockets. Zipped up, because a friend of mine, visiting the train toilet, managed to change clothes and leave all his savings there. Passengers of the upper shelves can put small bags under their heads, unless, of course, they sleep with their feet to the aisle. Speaking of hooligan actions, I recommend that no matter what happens, avoid going out with opponents into the vestibule.
