The electric explosion package is used to designate air gaps of artillery shells and consists of the following main parts: a mortar with an expelling charge and an electric fuse, a sound element with a moderator and a pyrotechnic amplifier, an upper wad, a cylindrical cardboard stop and an upper cover with a ribbon loop to remove it.

Mortar is intended for assembling all parts of the electric explosion package into a single finished product, protecting its internal parts from mechanical damage and direct exposure to moisture, as well as for directing the flight of the sound element when the electric explosion package is triggered.
The body of the mortar is cylindrical, made of puff cardboard by winding. The bottom of the mortar is a part pressed from inert materials (asbestos, rosin, industrial oil). At the bottom there is a chamber for filling the expelling charge of the expanse of gunpowder (DRP-3) and the premises of the electric fuse.
In the holes, offset relative to the center, the wires of the electric fan are stretched. The sound element is inserted into the mortar and serves to create a sound noise effect of the air gap of an artillery shell.
At the bottom of the sound element, a powder moderator and a pyrotechnic amplifier are inserted. The retarder ensures the actuation of the sound element of the electric explosion package at an altitude of 45-65 meters from ground level.
The amplifier is designed to enhance the force of fire of the moderator, as well as to ensure the reliability of ignition of the sound composition. The sound composition of the electrical explosion package is a pyrotechnic mixture in certain proportions of potassium nitrate, magnesium powder and cryolite.

The electrical explosion package is triggered almost instantly. An electric valve is triggered from the source, igniting the expelling burst of the electric explosion packet. The gases generated during the combustion of the powder of the expelling charge eject the sound element from the mortar, while igniting its moderator.
After the combustion time of the moderator, the amplifier ignites, and from it the sound composition. In this case, the sound element ruptures, accompanied by a loud sound effect.
At the point of rupture of the sound element, a cloud of white or gray smoke is formed, clearly visible against the sky at a distance of up to 2 kilometers for 8-10 seconds. In the absence of a strong gusty wind blowing in the direction from the observer, from the same distance, the loud sound of the rupture of the sound element is clearly audible.
