With an external awning of a two-layer tourist tent more or less sorted out. Now in turn is that part of the tent, without which it will not be such, by any means. Namely, the frame. The arcs of the frame are presented, first of all, with the following requirements: strength and lightness. In addition, the frame should not deform under the influence of the load, but this is ideally.
Frame and inner tent of a two-layer tourist tent, materials, properties, test for permanent deformation, frame repair.
The materials of which the frame is made today are different. And depending on the material used, the properties of the frames will vary. Most often, arc tents are made of various aluminum alloys. Plastic is also used, but it is considered and is less durable. Plastic arches are often used in tents that are not intended for the harsh tests that nature presents us. Plastic is less durable and not repairable.
In high mountains, plastic decomposes under the influence of hard ultraviolet radiation, it becomes very brittle and, accordingly, loses its strength, which is already not very large. The aluminum frame is much more durable. Ideally, the alloy should be such that there is no deformation left after unloading. Properly selected material allows arcs to remain resilient and retain their shape after several years.
So, choosing a tent, it’s nice to check the frame arcs for permanent deformation. Take an arc, bend it in the shape of your tent, and then release it. The arc will straighten, and those changes that remain will be permanent deformation. The smaller it is, the better. To make the frame easier and faster to assemble, so that its parts are not lost, an elastic band is passed through each arc, which holds all its components together.
Most often, in tents intended for more or less relaxing outdoor activities and simple trips, materials that are more heavy and less durable than aluminum alloys are used for frame arches. But their price is much lower, as, however, lower are the requirements for tents of this type. And when it comes to the increased reliability that a tent should provide in extreme conditions, to combat overweight equipment, then aluminum alloy frames are involved.
Repair of an aluminum alloy frame in a two-layer tourist tent.
Another advantage of such frames is that they, unlike plastic, are repairable. Aluminum arcs can easily be repaired with a special repair sleeve, which is often included with the tent kit. The repair sleeve is a tube whose inner diameter is equal to the outer diameter of the frame arc.
When the arc breaks, this sleeve is worn at the fracture site. So with its help the frame is repaired very quickly and reliably. By the way, the frames also differ in the diameter of the arcs: it is believed that the thicker the arc, the stronger it is. Although this is not an absolute rule: thin rigid frames can withstand strong wind loads..
Inner tent of a two-layer tourist tent, materials, properties, ventilation.
Well, now the inside of the two-layer tourist tent. That is the very space that will serve you as a roof over your head. And here the previous requirement does not lose its relevance:
The fabric of which the inner tent is made should “breathe”, but retain wind.
Be lightweight and durable.
The material from which the inner tent is made must be quick-drying. In this regard, nylon has proven itself best..
Any admixtures of cotton in the fabric are undesirable, since the cotton dries for a long time, is prone to decay, and in winter, it can also freeze into a crust. By the way, the layer of air remaining between the outer tent and the inner tent can also serve as a kind of air cushion, an “adapter” between the air outside and the air inside, which allows you to maintain the optimum temperature in the living part of the tent.
In a good two-layer tourist tent there should be a well-thought-out ventilation system providing air access, but at the same time, not letting in either rain or snow. It is very convenient if the ventilation hole can be opened or closed without getting out of the tent.
In addition to special ventilation openings, mosquito nets installed at the exits can play the function of ventilating the tent. On the one hand, the tent is closed, on the other – there is a review, and not stuffy. And, of course, the main function of such a grid is indicated in its name. To save the inhabitants of the tent from the invasion of various buzzing blood-sucking insects.
The color of the inner tent of the two-layer tourist tent.
Equally important is the color of the fabric of the inner tent. It is better to avoid gray, dark tones. Imagine how unpleasant it is to wake up in a gloomy tent. Even the sunniest morning will seem overcast. In addition, light passing through two obstacles (an external tent and an inner tent) can unrecognizably change the complexion of the tent’s inhabitants, give the faces a gray-green tint.
And this, you see, is not a very pleasant sight, especially in the morning. Of course, color is a matter of taste, but nevertheless light and bright tones contribute more to creating a cozy and joyful atmosphere inside the tent, even if it rains outdoors.
