All this one-day field ration is packed in a relatively strong cardboard box measuring 23.5x17x9 cm, placed in a hard transparent plastic bag. On all sides of the box there is an inscription in French OCCIDENTAL (western), why it is applied there and also in large letters it is not clear. The total weight of the field ration in the box is about two kilograms.

General findings and some disadvantages of the RAIR field ration.

By filling, this field diet really liked its richness and variety of products on offer. In terms of calories for a day it will be enough, the average 5000 kcal, he will pick up. In terms of protein-fat-carbohydrate ratio, most likely too. The package allows you to make yourself as a light snack, with a limited amount of time, and a full meal with hot dishes. Of the immediately flawed shortcomings, I want to note the excessive weight and delicate outer shell of some components, which was probably made for civilian use without taking into account the military field specifics.

To alleviate the weight of the field ration, it would probably be wiser to use not tin cans and dry fuel for heating them, but dense self-heating foil bags. What undoubtedly made this field diet easier, more convenient, smaller in size and more practical. It is somewhat incomprehensible that all components of the French individual food ration, except napkins and milk powder, are made in Spain.
