Orlan-2, are located exactly in the place where it is necessary. The handle design itself does not allow talking about supercomfort while holding during work, of course it’s a bit thin, but there isn’t much discomfort, the winding cord dampens and hides the handle corners.
ZT0200 folding knife creaks even louder.
Arrow (there it is very unstable), but no, some traces of course are visible, but everything is within normal limits, it’s still not a DLC coating.
with a flint, the edges of the butt are rounded and it doesn’t work, and when striking the seriator, an inspiring sheaf of sparks comes out. Although I would call him the killer of flint, very impressive grooves remain on the rod after him. Here, in principle, probably the second job for which he (the seritor) is suitable. Tear the cord if necessary and strike out if necessary over the flint, I did not find any more use for it. Very dubious suitability in its current form.
The knife itself harvests small twigs for kindling by five points, incendiary sticks planing without difficulty. I did not stab with a knife, and it is clear that there will be no problems with this. But he touched a two-centimeter fresh branch under a pencil in order to see how the palm of the cord wrapped around the cord would crush. Everything turned out to be in order with the palm, more tired and a little discomfort delivered the thumb, which during operation was on the upper stop.
Tourist Knife Throwing Piranha.
I made an imitation of a situation that accidentally came. At first I thought that I was bending strongly, but it turned out to be the tip of the knife plunging into the ground. After fixing, he swayed a little, then examined the knife. There are no visible deformations. Well and how not to mark a knife. With a loose lanyard flies, but does not stick, after winding the lanyard onto the handle the results are much better, stability appears. I got the best results from 3-4 meters. Entered the excitement, carried away, and Piranha immediately showed her teeth and bit, and very specifically. At the same time, I became convinced of the good penetrating abilities of the blade. On an unsuccessful throw, the knife ricocheted into the leg just above the patella.
Piranha tourist knife test as a self defense knife.
It was thought that the Piranha knife in its size, weight, shape and legality (in Ukraine it is certified as non-XO, a certificate is available) can be interesting for self-defense. The self-defender, in my opinion, is not a maniac and not a member of the Butchers’ Club, his task is to deliver 1-2 blows with maximum efficiency and with minimal damage to the enemy’s health and life, otherwise, in which case it won’t work … and eat a fish and go to jail to sit down….
Due to its shape and small thickness, Piranha is quite suitable for hidden wearing, in our case, for fastening a knife, a universal Velcro platform was used, in which the sheath with the knife was attached directly. For example, in the side pocket of the jacket, which is equipped with Velcro, with the handle down, the knife is quite conveniently located, does not interfere with movements and allows you to quickly remove it if necessary. Or in a bag equipped with the appropriate department. The same platform was used for fastening as in the case with a jacket pocket.
I think from the pics it is clear that for her application of Piranha her native sheath is completely unsuitable. Although, by the way, they are generally not suitable for anything, except just hanging them on a belt. A mannequin was constructed as a target for cutting and poking from an old-style military half-woolen tunic and 5 cm foam rubber. To check the quality of secant impacts, such a dummy is quite enough, of course, we are not talking about measuring the penetration depth with a piercing impact and the knife resistance. As already mentioned, the tip of the blade of the knife is almost on its center line, which already implies its good penetrating properties.
With a secant strike with a direct grip, the front straight cutting edge of the blade mainly works. Special efforts for cutting are not required, the knife does everything himself. General penetration is not deep. When cutting on the forearm with the middle part of the cutting edge of the knife, the results are just disgusting, cutting a half-woolen fabric with a lining with a secant stroke turned out only the second time.
Therefore, in self-defense, preventive blows to the forearms with this knife are unlikely to be particularly successful, unless of course they are especially hard. You can of course and the tip, but then who knows how to get there, you have to rely on the worst. With a secant strike, the tip of the knife works mainly with a reverse grip, the incision is arched and very deep, the knife buries very well. I would recommend avoiding such stabs with this knife..
Well, and how not to poke. Poked. Entrance to the soft tissue will be very good, but taking out the knife requires some effort. With the reverse movement, the seritor simply tears everything in its path, I suppose that such a wound, in the end, will not be very compatible with life. With the untimely provision of the first pre-medical, and then medical care, the client will simply bleed, not to mention the likely damage to internal organs.
A little about the sheath of a tourist knife Piranha.
I will not say anything bad. Quality leather and quality tailoring. The knife sits tight in them; if you want, you won’t shake it out. The latch is tight, fitted very tightly. On the first day, the scabbard was soaked for an hour. The next morning, the latch on the scabbard was so narrowed in size that it did not want to close and only in the evening it was possible to tighten it with a tight fit, with both hands.
I don’t have anything against the classic sheath and I don’t find fault with one-time shortcomings, but why for the knives designed and made clearly for different purposes and tasks that have different purposes, are the sheaths the same? After all, this greatly limits the scope of application of the knife and how to wear it. Here Kizlyar LLC divides its manufactured knives into cutting and skinning groups, tourist, household, artistically decorated, designer knives, souvenir products, etc., but no one makes and supplies, for example, ordinary scabbards with souvenir or designer knives from butchering or tourist.
If the knives are divided into groups, then why not the sheath, too, for example, classic, universal, specialized, for throwing knives … or something like that? Why not master the production of cordura sheaths with plastic inserts, because plastic sheaths are made. Well, albeit not with plastic, but with the same leather, everyone will benefit from this, as I think. Needless to say, except for the belt, these scabbards cannot be adapted anywhere. This greatly limits the functionality of the Piranha knife and the range of applications that it has is very wide. In my opinion, this knife can be a very real competitor to many knives, for example, the Kershaw Military Boot Knife and similar knives, if you equip it with appropriate sheaths of course, so that they are mounted on the shoulder, forearm, belt, hip and equipment.
General conclusions after field testing of a tourist knife Piranha.
Despite all the primary flaws, which are easily eliminated, although in my opinion they could have been avoided, the Piranha knife is quite decent and I liked it. Piranha lacks the disadvantages of other knives, such as massiveness, volume and weight, while not at the expense of overall performance. The hilt is of course an amateur, but not really so lame. Moreover, it works equally well in both dry and wet conditions, except that in the wet it cools your hand and actively collects dirt. Although this, however, is only my subjective opinion, therefore, I ask you to treat him with caution so that you do not regret later.
